Study on extending the supply water pipe network at Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city, Vietnam

The 10th International Conference on GeoInformatics for Spatial-Infrastructure Development in Earth & Allied Sciences (GIS-IDEAS 2021) was prepared at Naresuan University - Thailand from 2nd to 4th September 2021. The organizers for the conference are Naresuan University (NU), Osaka City University (OCU), and Japan - Vietnam Geoinformatics Consortium (JVGC). The GIS-IDEAS 2021 focuses on Health GIS, Hazards and Disaster, Remote Sensing, Web-GIS and Area Informatics, Spatial Analysis, Web Mapping - IoT, and following by 8 traning workshops.

On behalf of research team from Can Tho University, Dr. Nguyen Dinh Giang Nam - a member of INOW ASIA team - had online presented the research results of “Study on extending the supply water pipe network at Binh Thuy district, Can Tho city, VietNam”. The study aimed to determine the need of development and investment for water supply systems, then proposing a reasonable water supply pipe network for Binh Thuy district - Can Tho city by 2030. Secondary data related to water is collected from local authorities, and then EPANET model was applied to calculate flow, pressure in water supply system. The results show that water supply network of Binh Thuy has supplied water to 84.95% of households in the district, the pressures recorded at the end of pipelines (17/73 nodes) were not reached the water supply standards. Thereby, the study also foresees the need to use clean water as a basis for the implementation of investment proposal on the new construction, renovation and upgrading of water supply network in the district. The research was implemented under the InowAsia umbrella.
