Biodiversity in action for green REUSE on the UT3 Campus
neOCampus filter platform for wastewater treatment on the campus of Toulouse University was built during June 2022 by EPURTEK. This Constructed Wetland (or Filtre Planté Végétalisé) is now waiting for sensors setting before to get planted inside with phragmites. The completed filter celebration should happen during November 2022.
Around this constructed wetland, almost 25 différents species of flowers and aromatics were planted last Friday (7/10/2022). These plants will just improve the quality of the filter view for the campus users. This will help also at making the filter platform a biodiversity hotspot on the campus. We hope the students, teachers and university staff will enjoy passing by this equipment that should also locally reduce the air temperature during summer.
The neOCampus filter platform belongs to the new research project BioROC conducted between the UT3, IRD and UM. It will participate to improve the knowledge on biofilm quality linked to the macrofauna biodiversity. BioROC aims to improve knowledge on the influence of biofilm in a reuse sector including treatment based on NBS (Nature-Based Solutions) and irrigation.
